single parenting and homeschooling

I am considering homeschooling my 14 year old daughter. She is very smart, but she struggles with school. She started at a private school this year hoping it would help her, but she is still struggling. I work in a doctor's office Monday - Friday during the day. I was wondering if it is possible for a single mother to homeschool a child when she has to work during the day?

Charter to Virtual or Homeschooling?

My 5 year old daughter is currently enrolled in an Imagine school and although I adore her teachers and know they are facing so many challenges with budgeting, I am losing more confidence in them educating my daughter. DD is on a 2nd grade reading level and is proficient in what would be considered 1st grade math in most states (we are in AZ), but due to the fact that 1/2 her class barely knows their numbers, she is forced to do Tracing sheets. You can see how this bores her and she is slowly growing to despise sitting in class.

homeschooling questions

ok, i need help. i have a 13 year old 8th grader. he currently lives with his mother in florida but the three of us have agreed that he would be better off with me. only problem i have is my career. im a project manager with a company that moves me all over the country. i finish one project and then move to the next one. usually they only last a few months at the longest. he and i have talked about homeschooling alot over the last couple years. im not sure what the rules are about homeschooling regarding different states.

kid's perspective

I am a homeschooled teen and I love it! It is so great I am the 2nd oldest of 6, my 13yr old sister is homeschooled with me and we have alot of fun just mom and girls! I would definetly advise homeschooling your kid(s) if you are able. Even if you only do the ones that are having problems in school I say go for it. I was not a social ladybug in school and I was hating the whole school thing. If your kid is having problems in school (no matter what kind) and asks you to be homeschooled I say go for it if you are able.

How do I homeschool?

My children attend a private school, I want to try to homeschool them over the summer to give them an edge next year. My son will enter third grade and my daughter will enter first grade next school year. I also have a 3 year old. I thought this would be a good place to get advice. How do I come up with ideas for for lesson plans? How do I keep them interested? What do I do with my 3 year old? I only want to do a few hours a day. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Homeschool Curriculum

So my mom and I have been discussing the possibility of homeschooling because the public school I'm now attending has a very poor curriculum and I don't feel like it's preparing me for college at all. We're trying to put together a good curriculum for me first before we withdraw me from school [I'm a 16 year old honors sophomore], but don't really know how to go about doing it.

Does any one have any suggestions for textbooks and curriculum or know any place where we can buy them?

Thanks,
Natalie

Thinking about Homeschooling...

My daughter will be 5 soon and is in a great preschool, but she has been having problems with behavioral issues (I am looking into it). I am afraid that if she is still having problems by the time she goes to K (I will be sending her at the age of 6) and the teachers aren't as understanding as the teachers she has now, that there will be a lot of problems.

thinking about homeschooling a preschooler thru grade 12

What do you all think of the pros and cons of starting to homeschool at such an early age?  How do you become registered to be a homeschool teacher?  Is there some kind of book/curiculum that you have to follow?  Can you do booth home school and then send off to school?  As you can see I have alot of questions and was wondering if someone would be able to talk it out with me.

Homeschooling 17 year old w/ Asperger's Syndrome -advice please

I'm going to begin homeschooling my 17-year-old son. He has Asperger's Syndrome and the public school just isn't working. I have no idea where to start. College isn't going to be a factor, he already knows what he wants to do. He's going to train a dog as a touch therapy dog and then will go to nursing homes, hospital, etc., with the dog. He's already begun the training classes. I guess my question is do I develop a curriculum revolving around that? What about the credits required by the state? Does he really "need" a history class that he's got no use for?
