Discussion Title: Kids Menu Options
Created by: vcohem4 Created on: Thu, 05/31/2007 - 11:09am. Did anyone see this article in the New York Times on the unhealthy options featured in kids' menus? http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/30/dining/30kids.html?em&ex=1180756800&en=467b555b2f38955d&ei=5087%0A I'm always bothered by the greasy and fried foods pushed on kids, but it's just so hard to get them to eat nutritious meals. What do you guys think?

Hey vcohem4,
I so agree with this article. We always felt this way, I think children get so limited in what they are willing to eat that way. My daughter's best friend will never try anything new, to the point where we tease her because of it. And when my daughter was about 9 or so, I said to her, you are not going to order chicken fingers everywhere we go---expand your palate.
Now, she is 14 and she never orders chicken fingers at real restaurants. She has tried sushi, she didn't like it, but she tried it. She is so open to trying new and different foods. I think we are doing our kids quite a disservice by allowing them to be so lazy in their choices.
What does everyone else think?

It is hard for kids to eat nutritious meals. Now some fast-food substitute some good meals instead of the fries. Try getting them to eat a salad before each meal. This will also help them not to eat as much food.
