Discussion Title: Keeping children at work with me
Created by: magerry Created on: Mon, 02/18/2008 - 7:20pm. I own my own buisness. It is a gym and I keep two of my daughters, ages 1 and 4,with me. My 7 year old also joins me at 3:30pm after school. I do fine all day until the 7 year old arrives. She comes in like a whirlwind, asking question after question, climbing on every piece of equipment, and getting into things she knows is off limits. She doesn't listen to me at work, but is good at home. I realize she might want the attention, but she knows that this is my job and I have to work. She is only here for a couple of hours a day. This in turn gets the 4 year old wound up and it turns into disaster, making my job very hard. My question is what can I do to keep my 7 year to calm down and follow the rules. It has been a year and a half of this now and I am at my wits end.

Could you hire someone or delegate an employee to cover your responsibilities for an hour so that all your children get undivided attention for that period of time? I think the investment in actual "mommy time" would be very valuable.
