Discussion Title: Baby borrowers
Created by: gail Created on: Tue, 06/17/2008 - 12:35pm. I know, I said I wouldn't be back, and I'm not, but I wanted to reach everybody I could about this issue. I sent this e-mail to everybody on my address list, and then I thought of all of you.
I read yesterday in the paper about a TV show that is going to begin airing on June 25 on NBC. I was really upset about the show and I wanted to invite you to join me if you happen to agree with me.
I'm sending this to everyone on my address list, so if you don't remember who I am, Sorry!
Just wanted you to know, as quickly as possible, that I will regretfully end my 45 year long relationship with what has been a fine network if you air a single episode of baby borrowers. That you have condoned removing children for 72 hours from their primary caregivers is abominable. Your purported admirable motive blinded you to participating in human slavery and abuse.

The parents feel like they have not abandoned their children. They can see them whenever they want. I understand that. But it doesn't go both ways. The children are left with strangers. In the promos, there is definite distress, times when I would have intervened, things that would probably not have happened if the parents had been in the room. I won't watch it. You can't make me.

Just an observation... Average carrie has been a member for 5 days, Sballvar for 3. Not even as long as this debate has been going. Interesting.....

Gail, you are crazy...NBC gave you Seinfeld. They gave you Seinfeld!

First of all, it's a TV show! A bad reality TV show at that. Yes it involves real people, but so what? It doesn't effect you personally and YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! SO just relax. Don't watch it if you don't want to. I'm sure there will be millions of people who will and hopefully be educated a little by it.

1930's German mentality rears its ugly head and meets twenty first century technology and ethics.
Do you only get paid if the show airs? Or do you have a work ethic that makes you keep trying? If that's it, I have found something in you to admire.

Look...I'm not saying that you don't have a right to your opinions, BUT so do everyone else. And I think that this argument is just giving it power. And personally attacking people makes you the defensive one.

Right on, Meg!

I just said I admired your work ethic. I take it back! I didn't mean to attack you.

If I'd never heard of the show, it wouldn't affect me personally, but now that I know about it, it does. And, there is something we can do about it. We're doing it. It may not stop the show from airing, but we have been heard. And apparently it is making a difference to NBC seeing as they've made their forums "read only." They're scared. And they should be.
