Discussion Title: Baby borrowers
Created by: gail Created on: Tue, 06/17/2008 - 12:35pm. I know, I said I wouldn't be back, and I'm not, but I wanted to reach everybody I could about this issue. I sent this e-mail to everybody on my address list, and then I thought of all of you.
I read yesterday in the paper about a TV show that is going to begin airing on June 25 on NBC. I was really upset about the show and I wanted to invite you to join me if you happen to agree with me.
I'm sending this to everyone on my address list, so if you don't remember who I am, Sorry!
Just wanted you to know, as quickly as possible, that I will regretfully end my 45 year long relationship with what has been a fine network if you air a single episode of baby borrowers. That you have condoned removing children for 72 hours from their primary caregivers is abominable. Your purported admirable motive blinded you to participating in human slavery and abuse.

Sorry, that link came out all wrong. Whet I was referring to was an article in the Washington Post by Tom Shales entitled 'A case of stolen formula' which I found very interesting. You can find it at www.washingtonpost.com

Let's make a reality show where the "cast members" or "contestants" or whatever have to be sexually active teenagers in order to participate. Doesn't that reward behavior that is a precursor to teen pregnancy?
I am still prevented from sharing this concern with NBC directly. Anybody who is able, could you enter this question in whatever forum you can find? And keep calling advertisers. If you have not yet called your local NBC affiliate, please do. AND their parent corporation, you can ask when you call the affiliate who owns it. On another forum, somebody said there are "tons" of us. People who want to boycott. Make it true. crank it up.

Hey, they should show Mary Poppins! It's good wholesome entertainment that teaches that kids need their own parents. See, they understood this decades ago!

How do you think Mary Poppins would handle this situation? Do you think she would ever be party to the removal of kids from their natural home environments? I feel like she was often the older English version of these american teens...

So Jaker80, do you have inside information? Were these families chosen because the children were at risk of physical or emotional damage? Sballvr?

As for Mary Poppins, don't you remember the story, it was about two children whose parents were not engaged with them, and Mary Poppins came to make George Banks realize that his children needed him as their father. They didn't need a nanny to keep them from misbehaving, they needed their mommy and daddy.
Go watch it again, and then go fly a kite. =)

Abondoning means leaving the child somewhere and taking off. Watch the show and you will understand that this is not the case at all.
