Discussion Title: 10 year old son uses a baby bottle again

Iam a single father of 10 year old boy, a month ago we had vistors stay and they left a baby bottle behind,at first my son put milk in it and drank it as a jock, and then he started haveing all his milk in it,so when he was at school i got rid of it, he was so upset when he got home he want on and on asking for a bottle,so i got him one,and now he even sleeps with it, the dosent seem to be  upset about anything, he is a happy boy has any one ever heard of this in boys his age.

Not something I've heard of, but if he doesn't have any other problems otherwise and it's a comfort thing, then I guess why not. My only concern would be that if his friends found out, it could make his life at school hell. Another thing would be him sucking on milk overnight after he has brushed his teeth. Would he take water in it.
Have you talked to him about it and discussed how it makes him feel? Maybe he feels like he wants to be babied a bit. You say he is a happy boy, but are there any underlying problems at school?
I would have a long chat with him firs.

My concern is that he has learned that if he kicks up a big enough fuss he will get his own way. This makes you the agent of infantalizing him in two ways, one, he takes a bottle, two, a tantrum puts him in control, instead of the parent doing what is best for the child.

i have to agree with Gail.

you have taught him that if he throws a fit, he gets what he wants.

a 10 year old should not be having these issues IMO, it's a sign of something lurking underneath. i would get counseling asap
