Created by: whatever Created on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 12:48pm. in our county we finding out about a lot of cut backs i just found out today of a great teacher aid who has lost her job she did great with my son last year it is a shame we will be loosing great teachers with all the cuts being made ,i know the cuts must be made but i do not agree with the ones being made i feel like the cuts should hit the extra classrooms first like ART,DRAMA,MUSIC .the last rooms to be hit should be the gateway rooms being all of grades ,3RD ,5TH ,and 8TH these are gateways the ones you must be on grade level to exit out of .then maybe cut back on them last .my son will not be in a gateway year until 2 yrs and it scares me to know now he will not have any extra help besides the few moments he can get from a already over worked teacher with no teacher aid.i think we will see decrease in our scores what will they decide next .all i can say is im checking into home schooling now .

I like home schooling, but I also think that you may be able to provide extra support by volunteering at the school or implementing enrichment in family activities.
I think that the fine arts are very important. That is one of the reasons I do home school, the kids have more time for the finer things.

i always do my share at the school i read everyday with children at the school ,i donate items all yr to the class,i give snacks for the kids ,i am part of the PTO i just feel like if my child is going to miss out i want it to be in subjects that are not the main ones.i can take them to a show ,i can take them to local places that would be the same as these classes yes i do wish they had no choices to make with cut backs but in the real world they do need to make cut backs i just like i said do not agree where they are making them first ,as for the home school i in the past made a choice not my kids are very active in the school well liked by most, very out going and do like public school so for us before the cut backs it was the right answer for my family .

We, too, are being affected by budget cuts. We live in a small town, and the amount of funding we receive has been cut considerably. My son is in special education in a private school. Our district is doing everything they can to get my son into our public school. We're fighting this, but it's a really difficult battle. I'm not sure we'll be able to win this, but we're trying our hardest.
