10yr old acting like a 13yr old

Hi, I need some support. I have a ten yr old girl and a 8yr old girl. The 10yr old lately has become very moody and when I ask her to do something or just in general try to talk to her she screams back at me. Also if she wants me to do something she demands it to be done right away, she will not leave me alon untill I do it.How do I get this behavior to stop and is this early for teen behavior? Thanks..

You need to have house rules for both the children.  They are old enough to be responsible for certain obligations within your home. This includes the yelling issues.  If they fail, then there are consequences.  All you are doing by establishing rules is building respect for yourself, their home and themselves.  Everyone can learn to behave peacefully within their home and respect others.

At this age you will see them start to push the limits.  I've seen children do this ( I am the parent of a 20 year old and a 17 year old) and more often than not they are looking for guidance from you (or others who have authority over them).

These rules don't have to be many in number and there are various ways to have consequenses.  There are all kinds of reward systems you could establish for achieve this.

Don't give away your parental authority to the children. If you give in enough it could almost be imposible to regain control later on.

Your child seems to be going through puberty early. The mood swings are completely normal. It is highly likely that something may have happened at school that cause your child to be in a foul mood. I agree that you need to set rules about not demanding things. As for the mood swings, this is natural and there is nothing you can do about it. It is not too early for teen behavior. The maturity rate has increased in the past few decades causing children to mature earlier.
