Discussion Title: getting baby to bed
Created by: mominpink Created on: Thu, 05/01/2008 - 12:27pm. I am the busy mother of four children ages 9, 5, 4, and 20 months. My husband works 5:30-2:00pm and I work 2pm-10:30pm. We both work full time. Since my husband is the one who has been in charge of putting the kids to bed at night, he decided after our youngest daughter was born that instead of putting her in her bed to fall asleep he would just hold her until she fell asleep. Now she will not fall asleep in her bed and cries extremely loudly if we do put her in her crib. If she wakes during the night I usually have to go get her because she will scream and wake up the other children. I've tried to do the "cry it out" way, but she just starts screaming louder and louder and I don't want her waking the entire house. What can I do?

Did you try playing soft music or singing a lullabye? While doing this, gently stroke your daughter's hair and back. Make sure the light is low and there are no distractions. This has worked for us. Also, will your daughter take a passifier? If so, that may help. Whatever you do, though, don't put her in your bed. That's a hard habit to break! Good luck!
