Reading issue

I homeschooled my son for the first part of last year and he did fine, but him and I were too much alike so it did not work for us.  I am having an issue with him reading now and I don't know where to start.  He is going into the 2nd grade next year, but I am not happy with his reading level.  He is at the level he is supposed to be at his age, but at the end of Aug. he starts at a new school and reading is a big factor.  They use a classical curricula and  I don't know what to do.  Please help me in tryint to figure a way to help him get motivated about reading.

Thank you all for your help.

I responded to your other post about this issue as well. There are many useful computer programs that may help your son also. Maybe look into them as another option.

If he is at the level he is supposed to be then why are you worried? Dont worry when he starts school and sees the other kids and where they are at with reading he will join in...if you force him he will do the natural and rebel...let him be...
