Discussion Title: Your part of the world
Created by: junieg Created on: Sat, 05/17/2008 - 12:37pm. Just wondering where you all hail from. I know we have people here from Australia, South Africa and Europe as well as all of you from the States. It would be nice to hear from you. I live in Edinburgh which is the capital city of Scotland. I was born and brought up in Aberdeen which is supposedly the oil capital of Europe now.

Hi junieg,
I've had discussions w/ you previously. I'm fairly new to the boards (although I've posted quite a bit in the short time I've been here). 8-) It's addicting! Ha!
Anyway, I'm from a small town in New Jersey, USA. I've lived in NJ my entire life. I'm married and have 2 children. It's been interesting sharing views w/ people from all over the world. I consider myself a pretty open-minded person, and I always welcome others' perspectives on different topics. I've received a lot of good advice from many of you, and I've also learned a few things too. It's nice to meet you all.

Nice to hear from you both.
I have 4 children [35, 34, 32 and 18] and 3 grand children 10, 17 months, and 6 months] I work as an Early Years Practitioner.
These threads give me an insight into how things are run in other countries, such as Education and the Law. It is also very good to hear different perspectives on topics as you say and I am sure this will also help me broaden my knowledge professionally.

Reading this thread, I hope to hear from many ppl outside the US. I live and work in Denver Colorado. I'm a Director of Human Resources. I have three sons and I have gained so much insight and perspective from this site! One thing I have noticed is that many ppl come here with problems they are hoping to get advice about. I rarely see people posting accomplishment and victories. I think I am going to enjoy reading the responses here. Good idea Juni!

Good idea Tamz. It would be nice to hear some happy stories. The way I look at life is that every cloud has a silver lining if you look hard enough, and usually things happen for a very good reason.

Happy stories!!!! I live at the beach in Delaware, USA!!! It is like being on vacation every day, 1.5 miles from one ocean beach and 4 miles from another and the bay just a short distance away!

I live in Denver Colorado and my BF lives near Windsor Colorado. Last week we had a tornado 1 mile wide that destroyed the town of Windsor. With all the destruction, there was one man who lost his life. A daycare was leveled but not one child was hurt. They were in the bank vault accross the street singing and telling stories. Imagine how happy you would be to see your child when you came for them and the building was gone and your little kid was standing there safe and happy!!!

Great pity about the man who died, but great that it was just one victim. I know how I'd feel about my child being safe.
