need help disciplining my 5 yr. old daughter

I have tried everything to discipline my 5 yr. old, from spanking, time out, & taking toys. I find myself yelling and spanking and I don't like doing either of those. She thinks she can do whatever she wants, whenever she wants. I am beyond frustrated. I've even gotten advise from friends and family to no avail. She is very defiantand no matter how strict we are with her, it gets worse. If I tell her to sit on her bed for a minimum of 10 min., she is up off her bed playing or getting into things within 2-5 min. We try to talk to her to find out why she is constantly acting out and ignoring what she is told.
She always says,"I Don't Know." She is in VPK and is a very smart girl, and ahead of her age group in learning. I just don't understand as to why she disrespects and ignores me!!!!!!!

I think rewarding her would be the best bet to incul cate in her behavioural discipline. Getting reward will make her feel proud and will try to do every those thing that will let her to get that. Don’t ever yell on her and be calm and her to stop and listen. Have an eye contact communication. Hope this would help you out of the situation.
