Hey Becca
I was gone to Europe for a couple of weeks, but I will check and see if I can find your post---where is it?

Two specific days in June always bring up thoughts of my father. Of course, Father’s Day is one but the other is June 6, the anniversary of D-Day. My father was serving in the army and was on the first invasion of Omaha Beach. He stepped on a land mine and lost his leg but he never let that disability keep him from doing the things he enjoyed. I think of what a great support he was to me and my brothers and what a fantastic grandfather he was. He loved to play games with his grandchildren, in fact some he played over and over and over. He enjoyed making up songs that would fit the occasion like going down a steep hill in the car or stopping by Dairy Queen for an ice cream cone. My grown children still remember many of the songs grandpa made up and the games he played with them. The things he did to build relationships with his children and grandchildren were not extravagant but just simple, always leaving you with a feeling of unconditional love. He passed away 10 years ago but the legacy he left of love for God, family and country will never fade.

grandmaliz - Thank you for sharing your memories of your Father. I find it inspiring to hear about honorable men who love their families. I have a wonderful bf who is old fashioned and honorable, but over-all I have not been exposed to virtuous men in my life. Your story bring me a warm picture of family love.
