Will I ever be rid of him? I went to drop the kids off at his house and asked him for his half of the cost of new skates for Eli. And he says that he's broke and doesn't have it. Well the skates were essential because Eli grew 2 inches since last season and his foot grew one size - so what am I supposed to do? Make him wear skates that kill his feet?No - I'm the good mom and I buy the skates, thinking jerko will pay half.I wish I could do this without any support from him - because it would be sooooooooooooo much easier than trying to get stuff from him - money, showing up at the kids' school stuff - everything!! I am tired.

I have never understood how men can leave and feel no responsibility for their children. I hate to sound like a man hater, but tale after tale confirms to me that there are many more men than women who are slugs. I have been divorced for 12 years and my ex husband has managed to aviod paying cs or even seeing his sons. He moves from job to job and sometimes just disappears. God had provided for my sons by giving me the determination to take care of business, but it has certainly been hard at times. On a good note, I was recently able to get my ex's wages garnished and he is being held responsible for back cs... He may quit his job, but I am pleased that he is being forced to take some responsibility even if it is not by choice. These absent fathers are ruining a generation of kids who are being raised by single moms. I am a good mom, but I am not a good teacher of how to be a strong MAN!!!

I also was and am a good mom and was able to raise my son to be a strong man. My 24 y/o daughter on the other hand has been in a negative relationship for the past 5 years. I feel this is because of the negative example she got from her very selfish father. He did send the child support but was very grudging about doing so and made many, many negative and highly judgemental comments about us and how the support was spent. He also tried to get the children to live with him to avoid paying support. My daughter was always striving to deserve her father's affection and falling short in his eyes and has transfered that to her adult relationship. My ex also blames all her issues on me. My son tells me not to listen to him and that I did the best I could under the circumstances but it is still difficult.

Wow, if only I could deal with a mother like you. We always pay CS on time. We pay half of all medical and dental expenses. We have the kids on our health insurance. AND we buy them whatever they need: school supplies, clothes for school, summer, or christmas. Anything "fun" we buy such as Dirt Bikes and other athletic equipment to keep at our house, we don't get reimbursed for anything. So heck no we are not going to pay half a bill that's an added expense. If your daughter needs new skates I'm sure there is some sort of exchange program at you local rink.
