Discussion Title: MORALS CLASSES AND THE SCHOOLS
Created by: DOTTSIE916 Created on: Sun, 09/16/2007 - 1:55pm. HELLO my son has been going to catholic school for 5 years and is now going to public school for the last 2 years wow what a change not for the worst but for the better. the only thing i need to know is why isn't there a subject for morals and how to deal with people and things that are going to happen in life. How about a class for that maybe we as parents can help our kids deal with problems in a way that doesn't need a GUN or to try and hurt the other kids. They have bully prevention but that is only for the kids that are getting bulllied. try to find out why these kids are picking on the smaller ones, the ones who don't stickup for themselves. the ones who are different. our kids need to learn morals how to put trash in a trash can and not on the street, how to say hello to people, how to havea better understanding about each other and the different people that they will met along the way. how to repect each other and them selves not walk around in p.j.s and shorts that say jucie and to help people that can't help themselves. so how does that sound?

Hey Dottsie,
Some schools do have ethics and/or morals classes or cover those topics in certain classes. Often it is talked about in life skills classes, business classes, politics/civics classes. And it is often talked about in English class when the novel or story they are reading involves someone who has an ethical or moral dilemma.
Personally, I think it is our jobs as parents to teach the kids the morals and values that we feel are important.
What does everyone else think?
