Hey All

What is your favorite name for a girl and what is your favorite name for a boy?  What name do you like least.  What are your reasons for liking or disliking a name?

Let me hear from you!

Marti

I like that names that you don't here a lot, Chandra or Majesta for a girl. Gavin or Jathen for a boy.

I guess I like them because I grew up with a unusal name, Charlene. I've only meet one other Charlene in my whole life.

Hey Charlene,

I live in NC and have lived in the south my whole life and where I live Charlene is not an unusual name at all.  One of my best friends in junior high school was named Charlene and I have known lots and lots of Charlenes.

It is funny that where you live can affect whether or not a name is popular or whether you have ever heard it before.

Boy:  Omar, Renato, Noh (Korean Surname), Ismael (from Moby Dick)

Girl: Amber , Jadu (plum in Korean), Momoko(peach in Japanese), Jattna (believe this is an Indian name), Kismet

I LIKE THE NAME LARIHA. I LIKE LARIHA BECAUSE IT IS DIFFERENT.

I ALSO LIKE THAT NAME.

My daughter name is Teghen and i have two sons, Logan and Zachary, but  i like for a girls name is Autum ,Willow, Jade Irelynn and for a boys name i like Ryan, Levi, Anthony the name i dont like for a girl is Amber ,and i dont like Micheal for a boys name. some reasons i dont like a name boy or girl the are alot of stereo types  that can go along with names . My name is Martini growing up i heard just about every joke there was.

I love names that sound like thy could be a movie star for instance Jasmine it just sounds beautiful and for a boyJayden to me it sounds powerful or mabie i just like the letter JJJJJJ  lol.

I'm from the old school when it comes to girls' and boys' names. I don't have kids myself, but if I did, especially a girl, I would have named her Lisa. I was a  big fan of the late Eva Gabor, who of course, played Lisa Douglas on Green Acres, and also, my middle name is Elizabeth (Lisa is a form of Elizabeth).

Here are some of my other choices:

Girls: Angela, Sheila, Diana, April;

Boys: Richard, Jason, Jerry

I can't seem to understand why parents give their kids such unusual names. For example: Madison, Taylor, and McKenzie are not very feminine-sounding first names for girls; these are common last names. Caitlin sounds too Southern, and Hannah is an old lady's name. (Richard Nixon's mother's first name was Hannah).

Even a lot of celebrities are giving their kids such really names. For example:

Bruce Willis' daughters are name Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah; not very feminine, and Tallulah is too Southern (the late actress Tallulah Bankhead was Southern.

Frank Zappa's kids are named Dweezil, Moon Unit, and Ahmed; terrible names, and the last one sounds like a Muslim name.

Who on earth would want to name their baby Apple (like Gwyneth Paltrow) or Coco (like Courtney Cox; she must have named her baby after the late fashion designer, Coco Chanel)?

Sissy Spacek's daughter is named Schuyler; which is also to me, not very feminine-sounding. But I did read that when she was pregnant with her, she and her husband decided to name it Schuyler, regardless of whether or not it was a boy or a girl, because I believe it was  because it was the name of the town in Virginia that he grew up in.

One of Connie Stevens' daughters by Eddie Fisher has named her two girls Skylar and True. Casey and Jean Casem named their daughter Liberty Irene, and of course, Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger named their daughter after a country, Ireland.

Come on now; let's get real here. Stick to the old-fashioned names like John, Mary, Michael, Sharon, Elizabeth, Cheryl, Barbara, and so forth.

my  favorite name for a girl is  katie, and for a boy is  jason.

I like unique names. but not too unique.

My favorite names are Sawyer for a girl, or Mabel for a girl. I think those names are really cute and sweet. For a boy, I like the name Nash. I also like for a girl: Pilar, Piper, and Shepry.

When I grow up I really want 4 kids, 3 girls, 1 boy.
